The Happy Conveyancer
If you ask someone who knows or works with me to describe what type of person I am, certainly one of the first things they will say is that I am a continually happy or “smiley person”. This is something that I always laugh about but it is a constant through my working life, the good thing is it is apparently good for business!

If you are in the sales field they always say “happy people sell” or the old “smile and dial” for telesales but does your smile impact on the way you are perceived over the phone?

Apparently the reason is not psychological but rather physiological. When you smile, the soft palate at the back of your mouth raises and makes the sound waves more fluid. For those of you who sing in a choir (or the shower), you know that the wider you open your mouth and the more teeth you show, the better the tone you get. The same applies on the telephone. Smiling helps your voice sound friendly, warm and receptive. “”

So on these dark winters days if you want to give a good service to your clients, make a sale or just get a good deal on your sky sports remember to do it with a good toothy grin and cheer up for heaven’s sake!
